Data is Missing in Power BI Desktop

Prev Next

If your Tugger report has loaded in Power BI Desktop but some data appears to be missing (e.g. certain months, customers, or transactions aren't showing), work through the steps below.

Check your sync status

If you've only recently set up your connector, the first sync may still be in progress. Tugger pulls data in batches, so some tables may load before others.

  1. Log in to Tugger at tuggerapp.com
  2. Go to your connector's Summary page
  3. Check that the sync has fully completed

If it's still running, wait for it to finish and then refresh your report in Power BI Desktop.

Check your data start date in Tugger

When you set up your connector, you chose a data start date. Tugger won't pull any data from before this date.

  1. In Tugger, go to your connector's Summary page
  2. Check the data start date shown

If the missing data falls before this date, you may need to adjust the data start date. Contact the Tugger team if you need to change this after setup.

Check your RangeStart and RangeEnd parameters

If your report template uses date range parameters, these control which data Power BI loads. Data outside this range won't appear in the report.

  1. In Power BI Desktop, go to Home > Transform data > Edit parameters
  2. Check the following:
  • RangeStart - is this set early enough to cover the data you're looking for?
  • RangeEnd - this must be a future date (e.g. 01/01/2027 00:00:00). If set to today or a past date, recent data will be excluded
  • Make sure both values use Date/Time format and match your Power BI regional settings (File > Options and Settings > Options > Regional Settings)
  1. Adjust if needed, click OK, then click Refresh

Refresh your report

Your report only shows data from the last time it was refreshed. If new data has been synced by Tugger since then, you need to refresh.

  1. In Power BI Desktop, click Refresh in the Home ribbon
  2. Wait for the refresh to complete

Check the data directly

If you're not sure whether the data exists in Tugger at all, you can check the raw tables:

  1. In Power BI Desktop, click the Data view icon in the left sidebar (the table icon)
  2. Browse the tables and look for the records you expect to see
  3. If the data isn't in the tables, it either falls outside your date range or hasn't been synced yet

Still missing data?

If none of the above resolves the issue:

  • Check that the data exists in your source app (e.g. Xero, HubSpot) and falls within your configured date range
  • Make sure you've waited for a full sync cycle after any changes in your source app. By default, Tugger syncs daily at 08:00 UK time
  • Contact the Tugger team with details of what data you expect to see and we'll investigate
